Tunnel Work

NATM using Drill & Blast tunneling through hard rock, mixed ground, and complex basalt geology. Experienced in tunnelling for road, rail, irrigation and hydropower projects. Full support systems: rock bolts, shotcrete, steel ribs, deformation monitoring.

Mewara Group's flagship capability โ€” NATM (New Austrian Tunnelling Method) and conventional Drill & Blast tunneling represent the core of our technical identity. Over four decades, our teams have bored more than 50 km of tunnels across India's most geologically demanding corridors โ€” from the hard Deccan basalt of the Western Ghats to the complex mixed-face conditions of Himalayan foothills.

Each tunnel we execute is engineered with precision. Our drill patterns are computerised for optimal fragmentation, and our blast designs minimise overbreak to preserve rock mass integrity. After every round, our experienced miners rapidly install initial support: rock bolts at critical zones, steel rib arches or lattice girders where required, and wet-mix shotcrete applied by robotic machines for consistent quality and speed.

We deploy real-time geotechnical instrumentation on every tunnel drive โ€” convergence monitoring pins, extensometers, and total station monitoring โ€” enabling our tunnel engineers to immediately detect any movement and respond with additional support measures. This proactive approach is at the heart of our safety record.

Mewara Group has completed tunnels for road corridors (NHAI), railway projects (RVNL, IRCON), irrigation schemes (Maharashtra Water Resources Department), and underground powerhouse facilities for hydro and pump storage projects. Our crews are experienced across heading-and-bench, full-face, and pilot tunnel methods depending on diameter and ground conditions.
